World Suicide Prevention Day Lantern Walk

Last night, the World Suicide Prevention Day Lantern Walk was held at Maguire Lake, and several members of our Senior Boys Basketball Team volunteered to help with the event.

We received the most beautiful feedback on our boys from event organizer Shannon Hecker:

“I wanted to send a note  to you about how amazing the young people were last night.   They were keen to help out wherever needed, most stayed until the very end…including participation in a mindfulness closing circle and they created a beautiful evening for folks.

“People come with hope for their loved ones and also with loss and grief.  This space and time becomes a moment to feel supported and cared for in community.  As a community development project another cool outcome is the likelihood that in some way, shape or form, those young people went home and had a conversation with family and loved ones about suicide prevention.  Amazing.”
