SAS Graduation – Fall Updates
Grade 12 students, parents and guardians,
This is our first graduation update for the 2026-2027 school year. You will receive these updates throughout the school year. We also post this information outside the office on our SAS Grad Bulletin Board, as well as on our website: https://sas.sd83.bc.ca/grad/ The intention with these letters is to share updates on SAS Grad.
Let’s Talk about Grad Assemblies
Yesterday, we met with our grade 12 students to discuss graduation. We shared information on grad fees, promoted our first grad event (Halloween movie night – Thursday, Oct 29 @ 7:30), unveiling this year’s grad clothing opportunities, shared information about our Transcript Verifications/Graduation Checks process in November, reminded grads that now is the time for post-secondary admissions, and let them know grad photos will take place in early December.
Graduation Events, Ceremony and Fees
SAS staff look after the Graduation Ceremony and various Graduation Events throughout the year. We host an outdoor Graduation Ceremony here at SAS, under large tents, overlooking beautiful Shuswap Lake. Graduates will be given an alphabetically determined scheduled time for their ceremony, between 10am and 4pm. We will update students and families when the first iteration of this is published.
· Save the date! The SAS Graduation Ceremony is on Wednesday, June 23.
· The Graduation Fees of $175 (due May 1) is applied to the following expenses: the Graduation Ceremony, Grad Events, Grad Photo Sitting Fee, Yearbook, Grad Gown Rentals, Keepsake Cap & Tassel, Lanyard, and Composite Folder with the Grad Class Group Photo
· Grad Fees do not go toward the Dry-Grad Celebration. The Dry-Grad Celebration is 100% fundraised.
SAS Dry Grad Celebration
Grad parents/guardians work with our Grad Teacher Sponsor and School Administration to plan, organize and run the Dry Grad Celebration.
· The SAS Dry Grad Celebration also takes place on Wednesday, June 23 (6:30pm – 12am).
We will advertise and host a parent meeting early this winter to solicit volunteers to help with our Dry Grad celebration. Volunteers will be needed for the following committees: Food, Beverages, Security, Decorating & Set-Up, Fundraising, Entertainment, Casino, Take Down & Clean-Up.

Salmon Arm Secondary hosts an annual outdoor Graduation Ceremony on our school’s property, overlooking beautiful Shuswap Lake. Graduates will be given an alphabetically determined scheduled time for their ceremony, between 10am and 4pm. Graduates then meet at McGuire Lake for photographs and end the evening with a Dry Grad Celebration organized by parents.

Graduation Fees:
SAS Graduation Fees are $175 (due May 1st)
Payment can be forwarded to the office or via an E-Transfer to sas@sd83.bc.ca. Families also have the option of a payment plan. For more information, please contact Lisa Martin (Head Secretary) in the office at (250) 832-2188.
These fees include:
- Graduation Ceremony & Festivities
- Tent rentals, decorations, sound & production
- Off-set the costs for grad events and activities ((Halloween movie night, snowball semi-winter formal, street painting, grad breakfast, grad-itude tour)
- Yearbook ($50 value)
- Grad Photo Individual Sitting Fee (16-18 poses – photos still need to be purchased)
- Grad Gown Rentals
- Keepsake Graduation Cap & Tassel, Grad Lanyards, Cup-to-Go & Graduation Composite Folder
- containing a photo of the entire grad class, along with a place to hold your high school dogwood diploma.
Important Notice: Grad fees DO NOT go toward the parent-organized “Dry Grad Celebration”.
